Flower power at the Line

Linda Farquharson’s Flower Power linocuts lead a new exhibition at Linlithgow’s Line Gallery.

Born inAberdeen, Linda studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College inDundeewhere she won the Sekalski prize for Printmaking.  After graduating in 1986 Linda worked f
 
or several years as a commercial illustrator undertaking commissions for design and advertising companies using her printmaking skills. In 1990 she purchased and restored a Columbian press, which has pride of place in her bothy studio. In 1988 she had her first solo exhibition and has continued to exhibit throughout theUKever since. Linda’s prints are found in many corporate collections including those of the Bank of Scotland, the Royal Bank ofScotland, Edinburgh Fund Managers and the Western General NHS Trust.
The new exhibition centres on a series of linocuts of flowers.  The lines are clean, each shape clearly delineated but the rich range of colours, strong but subtle, printed and overprinted against black backgrounds, create powerful images which relentlessly draw the eye……..
